Tasks & activities
- Documenting the appearance of non-typical and elusive tick-borne bacterial pathogens with special emphasis on pathogenic spirochete species;
- Assessment of risk amplifiers that increase the establishment of non-typical bacterial pathogens in Europe;
- Monitoring of distribution of atypical or non-usual spirochete species for Europe promoted by migration of vertebrate hosts or tick vectors and human-mediated activities;
- Assembly of genetic tools to understand the population structure and gene flow of spirochetes from Borrelia burgdorferi s. l. complex, the cause of human Lyme borreliosis;
